The stream flows year round, lined with tall limestone cliffs, caves and plenty of wildlife. The reserve has two routes: Upper Nahal Amud, the long one, and Lower Nahal Amud, the shorter one.\n\nRare birds nest in the cliffs and an endemic snail lives on them, so some caves are closed to entry, among them the Skull Cave, home to bats. The data records no rappels in the stream, and a visit is mainly a stream hike on foot.\n\nWalking in the reserve is allowed in daylight only. Groups must book and pay in advance, even when they enter from Nahal Meron or from the Pitul campsite.
